Protect Your Debit Card

ALERT – DEBIT CARD SCAM

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020 Ripco Credit Union received calls from three different members stating that they had received a text message on their phone telling them that their debit card was locked and to call 1-800-372-8153 to get their card unlocked. This is a Spam Text Message/Phishing, and is NOT from Ripco.  If you receive this text, do not reply to the message and DO NOT CALL the number in the text message.

If there would be suspected fraud on your debit card, you would receive a telephone call from our fraud monitoring company (calling on behalf of Ripco), but they would NEVER ask for your debit card number. They would only ask you if you had made a particular purchase for a specific amount in question.

For more information on how to recognize and report Spam Text Messages, please refer to the Federal Trade Commission site here.
