We're Now Dementia Friendly!

Ripco staff have all been trained to recognize and accommodate individuals with forms of dementia. Four Ripco staff members have received training as Dementia Friendly Trainers, and will be assisting other local businesses in the effort to attain Dementia Friendly certification.

The Oneida County Interdisciplinary Team has started an initiative to have Oneida County become a “Dementia Friendly Community” and Ripco Credit Union is among the first local businesses to become a certified Dementia Friendly Location.

The goal of a Dementia Friendly Community is to increase awareness and understanding within the community of what dementia is so that people are more likely to seek a diagnosis, ease the fear associated with it, reduce isolation and help those who are affected – both the person with the disease and their caregivers.  We want those affected to continue to maintain access to local businesses and feel comfortable and supported while they are there.
